The Situation Our client, Smith Micro Software, Inc. has established itself as a premier provider of wireless data connectivity solutions through the company's long-term partnerships and agreements with the world's largest mobile operators and handset vendors. Their custom engineering services bring more than 20 years of hardware and software experience to OEMs seeking to offer specialized products by adding additional product features, customizing existing features and translating an application into additional languages. Smith Micro is seeking a Vice President of Product Marketing who will report directly to the top executive of this organization, and will work closely with peers in both the Sales and Product Development departments. The Position The Vice President-Product Marketing will report directly to the top executive of this organization, and will work closely with peers in both the Sales and Product Development departments. The Organization Founded more than 15 years ago, this company is one of the leading providers in its markets, counting among its customers many Fortune 1000 organizations. It is headquartered in the United States and has operations in a number of other countries. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have an impressive track record within the wireless industry, with demonstrated functional competence in the products and services serving that industry, including software. He or she will be well versed in both product development and strategic planning. With extensive experience generating and maintaining product "road maps" and marketing requirements documents, this individual will have displayed an unrivalled ability to make the compelling "value-proposition" case describing how the organization’s products drive improved efficiencies and profitability for its customers. This same person will, working with key business unit and corporate colleagues, preserve and improve the company’s competitive edge, and continue to establish industry standards on the software side of the product/services "equation". The Opportunity Working at the critical interfaces with both the Sales and Engineering departments of the business unit, this position is pivotal to the delivery of preferred solutions to the company’s customers. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to become the strong right arm of the lead executive of this unit in forging the unit’s future success. Through the relationship with the Chief Marketing Officer, there is the prospect of having an impact at the corporate level as well. This organization has displayed consistent growth and profitability, serving a rapidly growing global marketplace (wireless and mobile communications). Even in the current global economy, its short- and long-term prospects are exciting. The Compensation The successful candidate will enjoy a very competitive cash compensation package, comprised of both a base salary and annual incentive compensation plan. As well, he or she will be eligible to participate in the Company’s Restricted Stock Program. In addition, there is a comprehensive benefits program, including a very competitive healthcare plan, and a 401(k) plan with a company match. |
