The Situation

Smith Micro Software, Inc. is a leading developer and marketer of wireless and broadband communication, PC utility and diagnostic, and eCommerce software products and services. Smith Micro's strategy is to broaden the company’s product footprint and allow expansion into other high growth wireless security sectors. Smith Micro is conducting a campaign to hire a Product Manager to join their growing team in Chicago, IL

The Position

The Product Manager will be an important member of the Enterprise Product Management team. Reporting to the Senior Product Manager for Enterprise solutions, the Product Manager will be expected to help champion security products and features both internally and externally.

The Mobile VPN and Security Product Manager will help identify the key security functionality that will be present in future Smith Micro Mobile VPN products and help bring them to market.

The Product Manager will interact daily with engineering and technology groups. He or she will also champion the security products and features of Smith Micro products through customer interactions and presentations in various forums. The Mobile VPN and Security Product Manager will become a Subject Matter Expert in these areas for the larger Enterprise solutions team and Smith Micro Product Management group.

In addition, the Mobile VPN and Security Product Manager will provide support as needed in channel development and marketing activities.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation and technology. He or she will have experience managing full product life cycles and successful experience interfacing cross-functionally with internal teams and customers. Additionally, the ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of project management principles.

A technical background as a software manager or lead developer in a wireless communications, enterprise or security environment will further the success of this individual.

He or she will have a strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing and firewalls to understand potential customer environments with a strong security background particularly with VPN/firewall products and services.
