The Situation

Smith Micro Software, Inc. is a leading developer and marketer of wireless and broadband communication, PC utility and diagnostic, and eCommerce software products and services. SmithMicro's strategy is to broaden the company’s product footprint and allow expansion into other high growth wireless security sectors. In order to accomplish this, SmithMicro is conducting a campaign to hire an Intermediate Software Developer who will work on the latest telecommunication oriented products at their offices in Chicago, Illinois; Aliso Viejo, California or Vancouver, Canada.

The Position

The Intermediate Software Developer will work extensively with customized user interface objects and will be responsible for designing and implementing, testing and deploying SmithMicro's client products. The Developer will collaborate with lead developers in the server products to ensure compatibility.

The Intermediate Software Developer will attend customer status calls to provide technical status updates and comment on issues and questions. He or she will design and maintain a multitude of end user products based on existing code bases and work independently to debug and correct issues quickly.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a passion for software development processes, methodologies, and best practices. He or she will also have an entrepreneurial and true-team spirit, with a desire to work in the most technically advanced environment being able to take personal pride in a product that works flawlessly.

The ideal candidate will have a broad background in numerous software technologies and network protocols and experience in MFC, MSVC++, C and C++, Microsoft Visio, HTTP/HTML, and UI. A working knowledge of GSM, CDMA, WiFi and other network technologies a plus.

The ideal candidate will also have experience writing technical specifications, working with technical documentation departments, and experience designing and maintaining a multitude of end user products based on existing code bases.
